The existing police station in Muswell Hill was substantially demolished behind a retained façade and reconstructed to provide residential accommodation of seven flats and two townhouses. The new steel frame structure with timber floors and roof was carefully tied back to the existing façade to provide permanent support. In a second phase a further three large townhouses were constructed in the car park of the former police station. The houses are constructed of traditional load bearing masonry walls with beam and block ground floor and proprietary timber joist upper floors. Additional steelwork is provided to support the floors where required and to create large open plan rooms.
