About Our Company

Formed in 1976, G.D.C. Partnership Ltd is a firm of consulting engineers specialising in the design and management of the civil and structural engineering aspects of construction projects.

From our offices in Bromley, Kent we provide professional, comprehensive and cost effective services for both public and private sector clients throughout the UK and overseas by utilising state-of-the-art 3D modelling and analytical software. Furthermore we pride ourselves on the fact that all of our input remains ‘in house’, allowing us to provide the best possible service to the client.

Over the years we have established a substantial portfolio across the whole built environment including, but not limited to, educational, leisure, commercial and medical institutions as well as residential accommodation and heavy industrial facilities.

G.D.C. is also regularly appointed to provide pre-planning structural advice. This takes the form of provision of basement impact assessments, flood risk assessments, drainage strategies and construction methodologies as well as general structural advice and schemes to assist the planning process.

We are also regularly appointed by project developers, consulting engineers, main contractors and concrete frame sub-contractors to prepare in-situ concrete reinforcement drawings and post-tensioned layouts.

We have extensive experience of designing buildings in all construction materials including reinforced concrete, pre-cast concrete, post-tensioned concrete, structural steelwork, masonry and timber. Additionally we have also carried out refurbishments where reclaimed materials have been recycled.

We have gained a wide range of experience in the commercial sector ranging from showrooms to office space, as well as shopping areas and a number of mixed use developments, particularly in central London.

We also have an extensive portfolio of reinforcement detailing in this sector, working on a sub consultancy basis. These include various large scale, high profile projects both in the UK and overseas including Canary Wharf towers, Wembley Stadium, Hong Kong Airport, Twickenham Stadium, Knightsbridge Crown Court, Wimbledon Tennis Club, Chelsea FC, Green Park, Chiswick Park, T5 Heathrow, Bluewater Park, Heron Tower, The Pinnacle and the Jubilee Line Extension to name but a few.

We have now built up an extensive catalogue of projects in the residential market. This has included a large number of new build developments as well as many sensitive refurbishments in the public and private sectors.

The bespoke requirements of individual projects means that we have had to produce designs using a variety of material including steelwork, timber, concrete and masonry.

We have had to conform to strict planning and building regulation requirements whilst developing designs that are sustainable and affordable. At the same time we have had to show the ability to co-operate well with other members of the design team, taking into consideration the needs of the client, project manager, contractor, architect and local authority. As a result we have developed very good working relationships and this is shown by the amount of returning clients in this field.

Our staff has an extensive knowledge of industrial civil and structural design with particular emphasis on cement and its allied industries. In addition to this we also have experience in the design of coal mine structures, power plants and marine works.

We have over 10 years experience working in close co-operation with plant manufacturers in the design and detailing of cement plants both here in the UK and in countries from Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

Our experience covers the design and detailing of all major structures that make up a cement plant; such as the Cooler, Kiln, Post-tensioned Clinker, Raw Meal and Cement Silos, the Raw and Cement Mills and Mill Feed structures, as well as various crusher and conveyor structures. We have also been responsible for the design of various large span domed and longitudinal storages. When required we have assisted plant manufacturers in feasibility designs for new pre-heater towers, as well as modifications to existing pre-heater towers as part of planned plant upgrades.  Our designs have incorporated dynamic, vibratory and seismic effects.

All of our staff are familiar with the design and detailing of cement projects and are used to working in close co-operation with the plant manufacturer, contractor and the end user. We have carried out designs to various codes and standards such as Eurocodes, British, US, Egyptian and Algerian Standards.

Over the years we have designed, developed and refurbished a substantial number of educational institutions including schools, colleges, centres of vocational excellence and sports facilities across the country.

The educational sector often involves extremely strict time and budget constraints due to its nature but it is also necessary within this to produce designs which are as innovative and inspirational as possible, creating an exciting and vibrant atmosphere for all end users, whilst taking into consideration the specific requirements of each individual establishment. It has been proven that this can motivate and create better standards for all involved within this environment.

As a company we have also gained significant experience in the public sector. Our work in this area covers a wide variety and nature of project including the likes of hospitals, churches, children’s foundations, leisure facilities, museums, theatres and police stations. Further to this we regularly work with local authorities and housing associations, whether it be in the public or any other sector.
